Three-dimensional Tidal Dynamic Characteristics and Tidal Current Energy Evaluation in the Southern Sea Area of Hainan Island

Abstract Tidal current energy is a kind of marine renewable energy. It has broad application prospects. In this paper, three-dimensional tidal numerical model was established, and the verified by measured data tide level station. Based on model, feature distribution were accurately simulated analyzed in southern sea area Hainan Island. The results showed that annual average velocity evenly distributed among space study area. But cumulative time typical different areas space. C2 had more accumulative for low-velocity range (<0.4m/s) surface, while C1 (<0.3m/s) water depth 8.5m. C3 high-velocity at surface (0.4~2.0m/s) 8.5m (>0.3m/s). And with highest density C3, which up to 128.40w/m 2 . smallest energy, only 62.63w/m Compared areas, should be developed emphatically when developing resources
